Easy to shape and mount
PERFORM flexible flashing is fixed easily and fast. The light weight and the good stretching properties ensure simple handling and shaping of the flashing. For obtaining a perfect fit, PERFORM flexible roof flashing is formed to fit the roof or underlying material by means of a Perform Dresser.
Placing the flashing material
As the stretching ability is 60% lenghtwise and 20% breadthwise it is important to place the material according to the actual needs.
The side with the protection foil is the visible or upper side of the material. To prevent the flashing material from getting dirty, the foil should not be removed until the material is to be processed.
Fold on edge
Perform A/S recommends that the edge of the material is be folded as shown in the picture to the right. By folding the bottom edge it becomes significantly stronger and the roof covering then becomes even more stable in shape.
Fixing without adhesives
Usually PERFORM flexible flashing is fitted without the use of adhesive since the material is self-contained like lead. A self-contained flashing is porous/breathable and prevents the formation of humidity and condensation under the area covered. The actual flashing work can be carried out under various weather conditions, and craftsmen experienced in working with lead flashing can easily apply PERFORM flexible flashing . You make terminations against walls, roofs, dormers, valley gutters etc. in the same way as with lead, and you can make joints by folding up.
Fixing using adhesion
Whenever deemed necessary, you can make terminations against walls, roofs, dormers, valley gutters etc. using a spot adhesion technique. For the adhesion process use PERFORM Adhesive which sticks to all standard construction materials, such as brick, concrete, metal, glass and many lacquered surfaces and certain types of plastic. When gluing on porous surfaces, such as brick or concrete, Danalim Primer 961 should be applied first to obtain good bonding.
If you want make joints using overlapping and adhesive techniques instead of folding up the sheets, you will benefit from fastening the parts using PERFORM Glue. In this way it will be possible to shape the material as required before finally gluing the joints using PERFORM Adhesive.
Finally, seal all joints with PERFORM Adhesive.
PERFORM Adhesive hardens most effectively at a temperature over 5 degrees C.
